Chapter 12

As I began to read chapter 12 the first thing that caught my attention was technology integration stages and issues. I think it is a great idea having a technology-using educator that can help a student in technology. Technology is now becoming more popular and advance with all these new things. It can be pretty difficult when someone you don't have someone to guide you when using a new technology or a webpage. For instance, like me when I started online classes it was a little difficult for me because I wasn't use to all the technology having to turn in homework online or figuring out the assignments because I've always been an in class person where I need to see a teacher explaining things. Being able to explore the technology was and still is an experience for me. Having that teacher to help you threw technology is a great way to start and it is fun and learning experience. Students will be more motivated to do their school work. In this website Five Ways Teachers Can Use Technology to help Students.

The next thing I seen in this chapter was about the one-to-one laptop computing. I believe having that one-to-one laptop or tablet is a great opportunity for those children who don't have access to one at home. Having them at school will give them a better opportunity to catch up on research homework assignments or being able to write an essay for a classroom. Another thing I have always said it gets the students engage and wanting them to do their work because they don't need to use a paper and pencil that get's their hands tired from writing. Having a one-to-one computer will get the students engage and involve and that's what every teacher wants to be able to get their students engaging and wanting to learn.

The third thing I came across was about interactive digital textbooks. Being able to have access with digital textbooks is a great tool we can all use. Books can be heavy depending on how many classes a student takes and the use of books. Being able to use the book online can make it easier and accessible. For instance what if one day a student forgot to bring their textbook home to do homework they can just easily log online and use the digital textbook to do their assignment. Students enjoy technology and this is one way we can get students to read materials instead of a big and heavy textbook.

In conclusion, after reading chapter 12 there are different ways a teacher can integrate technology in their classrooms. Teachers can help and teach students how to use a technology tool to help them be successful later on in life. It can be hard not having someone how to teach you how to use a new tool.
Being able to have computers and laptops in a classroom is a great idea. Students can have an opportunity to do homework assignments and be more engaging and involved in the classrooms. Having a tablet with books on it is way more easier and students don't need to be able to carry a heavy book everyday. Technology is improving more as the years pass by so what better way to use it is to having it in our classrooms so the students can benefit from them.

Chapter 6

The first thing that caught my attention after reading chapter six was about bookmarking and cloud computing for teachers. Bookmarking is a fast and easy way that we can use to book a website that we may visit often, so instead of googling it or having to type it in the URL it takes less time if you bookmark it. I personally am still new to bookmarking. In my previous classes I have never really used bookmarking so sometimes when I am on the web finding resources I still have to look on how to find on to bookmark a website. Another thing is Cloud computing I have cloud in my computer and don't really use it often which I believe I should because it is a helpful resources. For instance if maybe I forgot my USB where my information was at I can always have plan b and that is cloud computing and I can simply login in to my cloud and my resources will be there. Here in this website at Cloud Initiation that I found it talks about cloud computing and the different resources a teacher can use for bookmarking.

Another thing that caught my attention in this chapter was about WebQuests. I have never heard about WebQuest before till now for one of my assignments. WebQuest is a useful tool when planning a new assignment and assigning students to that task. It guides you step by step threw out the way. It is a great way to have students motivated on learning a new task. The assignment is not in paper but on the web. First it tells you about the introduction to the assignments, the task, the process, evaluation and the conclusion. It was a nice experiment for me in creating a WebQuest and was challenging but it will be a great idea to teach our future teachers about this website.

https://www.gliffy.com/go/html5/11932756

The third thing that I came across was about educational websites as teaching resources. As a teacher we look research different kinds of websites that are appropriate to teach our students. I think it is a great idea that in the book it provides you different resources you can use in the classrooms. I like how it provide different resources to our lesson plans. Sometimes a teacher can get stuck while creating a lesson plan and it is always good to have those helpful resources as a back up plan. I think that teachers don't want to go into the wrong websites when educating a classroom.

In conclusion after reading chapter six it has come to my attention that there are different resources a teacher is able to use. At first I thought a teacher had to just google things and find their own resources. It is a great idea about the useful tools the teachers can use in their educational field. For instance the bookmarking and clouding computer is a great resources to use when a teacher forgets their USB or their notebook. Their is also a unique webquest a teacher can use to assign a unique and fun interacting project to their students and lastly the different educational websites a teacher can use to help them create a lesson plan or when finding creating projects to do with their classroom.

Chapter 4

Enhancing lesson development with technology is a great idea. One thing for teachers it is a useful tool to use technology to create their lesson plans. Teachers have an advantage to search for great ideas on the internet that they can enhance in their lesson. At the center where I work the teachers use a tool that is call teaching strategies they are able to do there lesson plans on that site and are able to input documentation on their of the children and the parents are able to create there own user name and password and can check their children's progress and it is must easier then writing. As for students they would enjoy technology tool activities. I believe that they will be more involve and engage to learning. When I went to go observe a 11th grade classroom they took a test about 8 questions and they were all to be a written response and I was so surprise that is a lot of writing and students get tired of writing if they had an electronic test or quizzes it would be more easier for them. In this website about How To Integrate technology is a helpful to include technology in the classroom.

Another thing that caught my attention in this chapter was about assessing and evaluating students. At the center where I work at we also use tools on assessing and evaluating our children. One tool that we use here is called an ASQ.  It is online and we login as a teacher and go threw the questions to see if the children are meeting those developments. These assessing helps us to see where the children are at and it helps us to create our lessons plans. For example if a children is falling behind on a development it helps us to integrate it on our lesson plans to help them. We include activities that will help the children be accomplish in that specific development.

https://www.gliffy.com/go/html5/11879511

The third thing that caught my attention was using electronic grading software. I think that using an electronic to grade our students is quick and easy. It is must better than having to keep it track in a book and what if the student does it's work or doesn't do it's work some days and the grade changes then there will be a lot of erasing a teacher will have to do that later on a teacher will not be able to tell what is the accurate grade number because of all the erasing. Technology makes it more easier for grading. If a teacher needs to change a grade in a specific assignment it will automatically change the percentage and it will calculate on it's own and it does not take up time because if a teacher does it on a book and say they are not a math teacher but instead a reading teacher and have trouble or by mistake calculate it wrong. Now in days all the teachers in the school system use an electronic to grade and it is quick and easy for them.

In conclusion being able to integrate technology in our teaching, lesson plans is a great idea. I think including technology it benefits both the teachers and the children. As a teacher we want our children to be able to be engage and be motivated to learn and one way to do this is by including technology in the lesson plan. Technology is a way that students will be able to be more activate and involve in an assignment. As I mentioned just like a student gets tired of writing with a piece of paper and pencil I think a teacher also gets tired from writing and what better way to make things easier to grade is by using an electronic software.

Chapter 10

Using technology to teach diverse students is a great idea. Today we live in a world of diversity. I remember when I went to go observe at an elementary school there was a young boy who spoke creole. A lady goes in and helps and teaches him and lets him use and iPad to work on math. I think that him using this technology was getting his attention into learning about math instead of him trying to understand what the teacher was saying and it is a start for him to start learning English threw technology. Also here in the childcare facility I work at the teachers use smart boards and they use a website called star fall and they put it on the smart board and teach the students about the calendar and they are learning the month, date, and year. In this article Meeting the needs of diverse learners through technology a teacher tells us on how she uses technology for her diverse classroom.

A second thing that caught my attention was on adaptation for classroom learning with technology. In the book it mentions about the different technologies a teacher can use. Here at the childcare facility where I work at the teachers use smart boards and they use a website called star fall and they put it on the smart board and teach the students about the calendar and they are learning the month, date, and year. It is really a great way to engage students to learn. There are also audio books students can listen threw in a learning center. They grab the book and listen to a CD player by using headphones.

The third thing that I came across was writing transformations with technology. Students get tired of writing with a pencil. Writing essays with a pencil hurts a students hand. I know when I was in school and I need to write a paragraph or so my hand was tired of writing so much. I think that writing transformations into technology is a great idea. Students will have the ability to use technology to write or publish their ideas in a fast and quicker way. When writing with pencil it can take long and a student might not have enough time to turn in a writing essay and if a student is using a computer it can be even quicker.

In conclusion using technology in the classroom can have a good benefit from it. Whether it is to teach a classroom of diversity teachers where they can get a better knowledge and there can be a lot of helpful skills in the way a teacher can use technology in there classroom. Technology is becoming more popular. Students use it everyday and like I have said why not use it in the classrooms. Having the students to use a computer to write will be much more fun and will have the students more engaged in doing their assignment then just a piece of paper and pencil.

Chapter 7

Being able to teach students about problem solving with computers is a great idea. Today we live in a world surrounded by technology and it is just keeps growing and growing. I think what better way to help out students on to solve skills while using a computer. In this article about Computer Skills it talks about the different strategies there is about problem solving with computers. Giving students an opportunity to problem solve with computers will help them find different solutions on finding out a problem they are given. They can further there problem and social skills while using the computer.

Another thing that caught my attention was the types of problem solving and inquiry learning software. As mentioned in the book technology has always been used. Students need to learn the proper way of the use of technology. Technology is not just a tool that will give you the answer right there in then. Students need to learn on how to further on to investigate a problem with technology. Using technology is a starting point to get a student started but students need to learn on how to be creative and create their own software.

Third thing that caught my attention in this assignment was about computer games as learning resources. Since students are so caught up in technology why not use it in the classrooms. There can be learning games that students would enjoying doing while at the same time they are learning something. There is one site that I learned about when I went one time to observe a classroom teachers are now using fast math. It is a website where students can play and learn math at the same time. When I was in elementary we only had paper and pencil and never used computers to do math. I really think this is one computer games resource a teacher can use. It interacts children into doing math.

In conclusion there are different skills to use computers and technology in the classroom. Students enjoy technology and instead of being replaced with it why not just join them and use it more in the classrooms. There can be many kinds of gaming that students can enjoy and at the same time are learning something out of it. We don't always want to bored our students with just books, paper and pencils. When I was in school in elementary, middle or high it was always paper and pencil and books if they would have introduce technology along time ago I think I would have enjoyed school more. Students are more motivated with software applications that contain math and reading game activities.

Chapter 3

There can be many benefits about the way we use technology. As mentioned in chapter 3 there are many ways of developing digital literacy. One thing that I found was The Seven Elements of Digital Literacies and it shows a web explaining about the seven elements of digital literacy. I believe that by teaching digital literacy students are gaining the knowledge of finding the correct information and resources they need on the internet. Students need to be able to identify something on the internet that is actually real and know that they are not being hacked or if it is false information.

Next thing about digital literacy is media. Media is everywhere and it will be great to teach our students about the media literacy. Young children are also using media and spend a lot time on it. As teachers we want the best for our students. I believe that teaching media will be entertaining for the students and the students will be more encourage to want to learn other than just books and paper. We don't always want to bored our students with the same lecture and having them open those books and having them write down notes because I know when I was in high school we get tired of writing a lot so therefore media would be great and they will be able to understand truth of the information that is given.

The third thing that caught my attention in this assignment was communicating and collaborating. I think that including technology in our classroom our students will be more motivated to learn together in a group. The students will be able to collaborate more with technology and they will be able to come up with great ideas. Letting our students use technology will help our students to be more engage and more involve. I found a video about Naturally smart where it helps students to be more collaborating and being to work together and learn together a different times and places.

In conclusion media is everywhere, television, social media, internet etc. Being able to teach our students about media literacy will help the students later on when they have to research a specific topic and need to find some kind of information. They will be able to find the bias and will be able to tell the lies. We want to prepare our students for the future when they become more independent and this is a way by being able to teach them about media literacy. Media has the benefits of having them to be able to have skills like critical thinking, being able to understand a media message and being able to identify the scenes of a story.

Chapter 1

Technology has advanced over the past years. Technology is in our everyday daily lives whether we notice it or not. Young children know so much about technology. One thing that caught my attention was about teaching our 21st-century learners with technology. Becoming a teacher and using technology can help me build a relationship with students because that is what students love to use more often, whether it is an iPod to listen to music while doing work or using the internet to do assignments in the classroom instead of writing with a pencil. At Technology Integration Ideas that work have some great ideas on how to use technology in a classroom with the students' assignments or projects. I think it is a wonderful idea to use technology more often for the students' projects and I think it will help on saving trees (paper).

Another thing that I learned about was about BrainPOP. Brainpop is a website that has science, math, social studies, English, arts & music, health and engineering tech. I think using this website is a creative way to use a new curriculum and it can be fun and exciting for students to learn about a subject. I think using BrainPOP can be one way we can introduce our children to technology. We can introduce our students to technology by having them having fun while they are learning at the same time. Here is a short video that gives you some information about BrainPop and the benefits of it.

Lastly, introducing technology to our 21st-century students is a way to help them get ready and be successful and having a better understanding of technology. As shown in figure 1.2 it shows the skills that students can gain by using technology. Letting our students use technology can be a way to connect with them. One thing about teaching and using technology in our classrooms can benefit by giving the children a motivation on doing their assignments more often. One way we can benefit from technology is having more resources online. We can have a laptop or iPads on each student's desk and instead of using a book they can just have the book online. There are so many ways a teacher can use technology and have a great learning experience with it and their students.

In conclusion, teaching 21st century learns has become where technology is in our daily lives. Instead of trying to make our students bored with just pencils and paper we should use technology often. Also, since we can not beat them we might as well join them with the technology. Students at a very young age begin to use it more often and probably a 5-year-old can use an iPad better than a teacher. So, I say instead of trying to take technology away from them we should introduce them into it and use technology in our classrooms and use it in a fun and exciting way and maybe like that students will be more motivated to learn new materials.
